I finally sat down and
went through my motorcycle book lists, and pulled out some books that
you might be interested in reading...enjoy!
Subjects:
I know that many of you are shade tree mechanics, and know a lot about
fixing your bike, but I've included some
repair books
for those who are just getting to know how to fix a bike. I'll be
adding Clymer manuals for a variety of bikes soon.
For folks who are just learning to ride, I've got a few books listed about
how to ride a motorcycle
and motorcycle
safety.
For avid
vintage motorcycle
fans or lovers of motorcycle history, I've included books about those subjects, too.
Also listed are books about the art of the
motorcycle, with books about special paint jobs and the "best of the
best" custom builders, such as Indian Larry.
We are taking
longer rides on our bikes, with John
riding either his Sportster or his customized CB750 K5, and me cruising
on my 98 ACE Tourer since I sold the VLX 600. We are always looking for
new places to ride and explore, and I know you are, too, so I've
included
tourist and travel books
here, as well as
motorcycle camping guides.
I love weird tourist attractions, so I'll be adding books featuring
strange and interesting things to see while you're out on the road.
We're just getting
started with this page, so come visit our Biker Books library again
soon! Until we see you again, remember to keep the shiny side up!

Indian Larry: Chopper Shaman, This book, by those who knew him best, offers a closer
look at the life that made Larry into the "chopper shaman" so many admired. Full of photographs that document a uniquely colorful life, the book follows Larry
from his humble beginnings to his unlikely stardom, tracing his short career as a bank robber, his time in prison, his spiral downward into heroin addiction,
and his rebirth in 1994 as the spiritual bike builder... Note: This edition

reverse of the book's jacket... |
Art of the Bobber, Before choppers, there was the bobber. When American-brand motorcycle owners needed to change their rear tires decades ago, the rear
fender featured a hinge near its center that would flip up to make room for the tire to be removed. At some point ,an enterprising rider decided to permanently
remove the hinged rear portion of the fender - shortening the fender like the "bobbed" hair cuts popular during those days - or so the theory goes. The tradition
of stripping down to a bike's bare essence and celebrating its simpler forms - making a bobber - was begun.
